Abandoned Bikes Donated to Jack The Bike Man

Over the years Ambassadors East had accumulated a lot of bicycles that were never used, just gathering dust  and taking up space in the parking garages.  A few months ago, all owners and renters were asked to "register" their bike(s) with the office.  After a period of time, those bikes that were not identified by someone were considered abandoned.

We finally had the abandoned bikes removed today by “Jack the Bike Man”, a local non-profit organization which provides education, guidance and training to at-risk children of migrant workers and their parents. The bicycle repair program is one of their programs (web site: JackTheBikeMan.org).

Jack seemed very appreciative of getting the bikes. He said one of them was over 50 years old!  We donated approximately 30 bikes. Some of them were in dire need of help. Click HERE to view some pictures taken by Jean Le Grys of the removal "ceremony".

Thank you Jean for the pictures ...........

ATTENTION!! Seasonal Residents

If you have left your car on the upper deck or black top for the summer, the Association will need to have the car moved when the upper deck coating project begins early this summer (end of June - early July).  Please make sure that your house watcher has a set of keys to your vehicle or mail a set to the office. The keys will be attached to your unit keys that are on file in the office.  All vehicles will need to be parked in the garage during this project.

Building 1 Concrete Repair Progress

Work is progressing nicely on the concrete repairs to the balconies in building 1. When inspection was completed, it was determined that 41 balconies on this building alone required concrete repairs to side panels.  The balcony work on this building is expected to be completed in about 2 weeks.  Balcony repairs in buildings 1 and 2 will be posponed to a later date due to budget constraints.  Click on the "Read the rest....." button at the bottom  to view more pictures of the work in progress as of May 15, 2013........

Uninvited Guests at Building 1

A large bee swarm was spotted on the entrance scaffolding to Biulding 1. Bee removal services were called as bees are a protected animal. But before they arrived the swarm disappeared! We were told that these were probably bees at rest (they need sleep too!). A few remained to start a nest and have been eradicated by onsite staff.  (submitted by Jean LeGrys).

BOD Meeting - Deck Resurfacing

Request for Proposals were mailed out to eight contractors for the job of resurfacing the upper parking decks for all three buildings. When all bids are received they will be reviewed by a special meeting of the board and a contractor will be chosen. The documents sent to the contractors contained identical requirements. Work will probably begin sometime in June as planned as the work on the balcony repairs for building 1 should be completed in a few weeks.
