1. Work continues on Bldg 3 north side. We are approximately 40% completed.

2. We have selected Picture Perfect Pools to recondition the north pool. As of this report Trace Valentine (owner) is waiting for permits. We anticipate on shutting down the pool July 28, 2014. Trace estimates it will take 6 weeks to complete.

3. GCC has completed all repairs to the membrane adjacent to the ramp of Bldg. 1.

4. Team Systems replaced the underground antenna that operates the south gate. Our staff removed and re-installed the road pavers.

5. Our Staff did a great job in resurfacing the wall behind the north ramp in the parking garage. Some owners have suggested to me that we paint a mural on it. LOL

6. Two toilets have been replaced by staff in the Bldg. 3 Men’s room and the Bldg. 1 woman’s sauna.

7. All elevators in every building have been inspected. Two small problems were found in Bldg. 3 and are being addressed.

AE 4th of July Party and Fireworks Video

A great time was had by 80+ residents and friends last Friday night at the annual Independence Day party. It's the only event we host during the off-season. The Social Committee went all out on the food, the decorations and the entertainment which was an American history quiz.  The quiz this time had a different format ..... kind of like 20 questions.  It was fun.  AE residents sure do know their history.

Thanks to Arvid J. for doing ALL of the cooking on the grill.  We had plenty of dogs for everybody. And it was nice to see a lot of young people at the party this year.  Most of them stayed for the whole event.

An Issue of Concern - Umbrellas On the Pool Decks

Of course, we all want the table umbrellas on our pool decks to be available at all times to protect us from the hot sun while enjoying the pool.  Just recently the pool area umbrellas, which had not been set up for a long time, were restored to the decks.

The above pictures show damage created on July 2 due to the umbrellas not being closed when residents left the area during a squall which did not even involve very high level winds.  The pool areas are just as much ours as if we owned our own home with a pool patio.  We live in a condominium community where everyone has some responsibility for our amenities (other than paying for them).  We do not live in a hotel or beach club where they have abundant staff  to rush to tend to every situation.  Our staff would have taken action if they saw it coming in time.  They do check the umbrellas on a schedule.   But someone is always in the pool areas.  This would not have happened if some resident or guest of an owner had taken the time to crank the umbrella closed before the brief weather hit.

We don't know who neglected to close an umbrella that day - owner or guest. But at this time of year, we do get a lot of guests who are not accompanied by the owner of a unit.  It is very important when inviting guests, that they are familiarized with the rules of the condo, especially those pertaining to the pool and beach area (proper attire, shoes or flip-flops, drying off,  proper doors to take from pool areas and beach and tending to equipment before returning to their units).

Thanks for your cooperation,

V. Ingram (T.A.N. Editor)
